Library Renovations: Contractors On-Site Week of February 21

Contractors are on-site, and changes are underway. The contractors will be moving materials in and out of the Library starting February 21. To limit disruption to students and staff, much of this moving will take place outside regular Library hours.

The second floor, is where the largest changes are happening this week. The computer pools have been removed to clear space for the start of construction, and hoarding (temporary walls) are being built.

Other important changes to be aware of on the second floor:

  • Both sets of washrooms on the second floor are closed for renovation
  • The Audiovisual (AV) Collection has been moved from the second floor to the lower level

To provide extra seating for students, window seating is being installed on the west side of the third floor. On the first floor, demolition work begins in staff areas, and new mats are being installed at the main entrance.

Due to the construction underway, the first and second floors will likely be noisier than usual, and it’s recommended that students seek study spaces on other floors if they’re looking for quiet study areas.

Caution tape has been put up in the lower level to close off an area that will be used throughout the renovation. This area is therefore off-limits.
