Goodwin-Haines Collection

A diverse collection of Canadiana including material relating to Niagara region, assembled by a private collector.  The collection includes over 150 pamphlets, 45 crown land grants, over 200 military commissions and legal documents, broadside collections. 

Dr. James Goodwin built up this collection over 30 year period.  It was purchased from the estate of his widow Kathleen Haines in 1981.

37 series include materials relating to William Lyon Mackenzie, Lord Melville, Sir Alexander Campbell, Sir Wilfrid Laurier, John Galt, John Baldwin, Jules Quesnell, F. W. Macdonald, George Holmstead, Osgoode Hall, William P. Powell, Richard Cartwright, Thomas Clark & Samuel Street (firm), Newark & Chippewa, G. A. Aylesworth, William Gibbard, William Grant and some Guelph correspondence of Dr. Henry Orton.
