This tool provides an easy way to generate links to library resources that use OpenAthens authentication. You can share these links with U of G community members, allowing them to access resources provided by the McLaughlin Library.

Converting old links to the new OpenAthens authentication system

As well as generating new links, this tool can also convert links from the legacy EZproxy sytem to the new OpenAthens system. If your link is in the old format, please update to the new format.

If your link includes "subzero" in the URL, it is in the old format. For example:

https://subzero.lib.uoguelph.ca/login?url=https://nature.com
https://nature-com.subzero.lib.uoguelph.ca/

The new link format includes "openathens" in the URL:

https://go.openathens.net/redirector/uoguelph.ca?url=https%3A%2F%2Fnature.com

Note that some resources use other URL formats, so the converted URLs may not always include "openathens". This includes resources from:

EBSCO
Gale
Kanopy
ProQuest
